Dell has released its SonicWALL SuperMassive 9000 Series Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) which claims to provide security, productivity, performance and scalability.

The SuperMassive 9000 Series includes the 9600, 9400, and 9200 models that offer IPS and application control performance up to 12Gbps, claims the company.

High core density architecture is used by the firewall in one-rack appliance that offers services including threat protection, intrusion prevention and anti-malware at multi-gigabit speeds with near zero latency.

The firewall series consists compact 1U power efficient high port density form factor with 4 SFP+ 10GbE interfaces, 16 units of 1GbE interfaces and a dedicated management interface, and can be installed in networks including a traditional gateway security deployment, a transparent layer 2 bridge or wire-mode deployment.

Dell SonicWALL product management executive director Patrick Sweeney said that the enterprises struggle to balance the need for network access and performance with network protection.

"The Dell SonicWALL SuperMassive 9000 Series is designed to solve exactly these enterprise challenges through technology generally associated with carrier-class networks," Sweeney added.

The SuperMassive 9000 Series uses Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) technology to block threats before they enter the network scanning all traffic.

Application Intelligence and Control features of the series help ensure optimal network productivity and bandwidth through the identification of productive and unproductive application traffic in real-time which can then be controlled through powerful application-level policies.
