Creative Technology, a maker of audio products, has launched its new tablet called Ziio that the company says runs on Android version 2.1 Éclair and has normal run-of-the-mill features.
The new tablets come in two configurations – 7 and 10 inch – and include Creative’s X-Fi Crytalizer and the Pure Android Audio application, which can be launched by touching an onscreen button.
Both the 7-inch and the 10-inch ZiiO, powered by Creative’s own ZiiLabs ZMS-08 (based on a 1Ghz ARM processor), have an accelerometer, and a front-facing VGA camera, and can display 1080p video.
The company said both the devices with 8GB and 16GB of memory have HDMI and MicroSD card slots, feature an accelerometer, playtime of up to 25 hours (MP3) and up to five hours of video.
The 7-inch screen has 800×400 pixels and the 10-inch 1024×600 pixels, and both the tablets come with built-in WiFi.
Creative said the ZiiO tablets can access apps from its ZiiStore, and allow users to connect to the Internet, send emails, and shop for apps, games, and ebooks.
The 7-inch 16GB ZiiO tablet retails for $270 and the 8GB tablet retails for $250. Both are available through Creative.
Available on order from Creative’s online store, the 10-inch ZiiO will start at $319, while the 7-inch will cost from $249.
