CloudBees, a provider of Java Cloud computing, has acquired Stax Networks, a provider of Java Platform as a Service (PaaS).
The acquisition will accelerate the delivery of CloudBees’ Java PaaS, RUN@cloud, which also complements with its DEV@cloud service.
The company said with the two offerings, it will be the first company to offer a fully integrated, development to production offering for the cloud environment.
The Stax platform will be integrated with existing CloudBees technology to create RUN@cloud, a cloud-native platform for deploying and running applications in the cloud.
In addition, developers can use the CloudBees DEV@cloud build system to develop, build and test their code and then publish directly to the cloud using RUN@cloud.
Stax Networks founder and CEO Spike Washburn said CloudBees and Stax share a common vision for the cloud namely that the focus has to be on applications, not servers or virtual machines.
"By combining forces, we will now have a complete application lifecycle offering for the cloud and I’m looking forward to joining a crack team with the resources and track record to take the Stax platform, as RUN@cloud, to a wider audience," Washburn said.
