Cisco has opened new Center of Innovation (CoI) with an initial investment of $2m in Mexico City, to integrate new technical offerings tailored for the business needs of its clients in Mexico.

The new Center of Innovation in Mexico uses Cisco technology and services and integrates them with the company’s ecosystem of partners.

The centre will support the company’s global Smart+Connected Communities efforts, which aim to implement its technologies via a service-delivery platform to enhance access to Internet-based services and reduce the cost of government operations.

The company said that the Center of Innovation in Mexico will initially work in two areas for Mexico and the region: safety and security, and a health care offering.

Additional modules will be integrated in the future, including education.

Cisco Mexico managing director Rogelio Velasco said, the Cisco Center of Innovation in Mexico was created to drive the development of offering that will enable their channel partners to better satisfy customer needs.

"The customisations will integrate Cisco’s products and services, along with products and services from other ecosystem partners, with innovative offerings for the Mexican market," Velasco said.
