Cisco acquires ExtendMedia

To help service providers deliver multi-screen offerings

By CBR Staff Writer

Cisco Systems has acquired ExtendMedia, a provider of software-based content management systems (CMS) that manages entire lifecycle of video content through monetisation for pay media and ad-supported business models.

Cisco said that with the acquisition of ExtnedMedia, it will now be able to help service providers deliver multi-screen offerings as the market transitions to IP video.

Both Cisco and ExtendMedia will enable service providers to deploy a next-generation video architecture that delivers efficient consumer experience with access to any content, over any network, on any device.

In addition, ExtendMedia’s CMS software will be integrated with Cisco’s current IP video offerings, which will be a core component of Cisco’s next-generation video architecture.

The sales and professional services teams of ExtendMedia will also join the Cisco sales and advanced services organisations.
