Check Point Software Technologies, an internet security provider, has unveiled a new version of ZoneAlarm Free Firewall which is powered by the community for stronger security.
The company said that the new version comes with DefenseNet service that analyses malware automatically reported by the community of ZoneAlarm users. On determination of safety or non-safety of a given program, information is then shared through the cloud, blocking attacks.
According to Check Point, the new version includes inbound firewall that prevents hackers from entering a PC and outbound firewall that automatically blocks data from being transmitted back out to the hacker.
In addition, the ZoneAlarm uses both signatures and heuristics to block dangerous websites as well as an identity checkup with IDENTITY GUARD that allows customers to see if their identity and personal information has been exposed.
Check Point said that the new offering works with other security software including free anti-virus software. It protects users from trojans and keyloggers; zero-day threats; program hijacking and code injection; and port scanners and vulnerability checkers.
Bari Abdul, vice president of consumer sales at Check Point Software Technologies, said: 48 million times a day, current ZoneAlarm DefenseNet users automatically retrieve threat data from our cloud servers for instantaneous protection. This delivers a safer online experience that is quiet and automatic for any level user, and starting today, it is available in our free firewall.
