Check Point Software Technologies has acquired privately held data security firm Liquid Machines, in a move to strengthen its data security portfolio with the addition of enterprise rights management.

Headquartered in Waltham, MA, Liquid Machines is a provider of enterprise rights management products that prevent the misuse, modification, loss or theft of intellectual property and sensitive information residing in documents.

Liquid Machines specialises in data protection and has 12 issued and pending patents for document encryption and content security.

Check Point said that its data security strategy focuses on securing data throughout its lifecycle. The Liquid Machines technology is expected to be part of Check Point’s future product suite and will enable secure sharing of documents.
