Check Point releases high-performance security gateways

Internet security company Check Point has released a new line of security gateways that offer a combination of firewall, IPSec, virtual private network, and intrusion prevention.

Check Point said the Power-1 5070 and Power-1 9070 gateways offer 9Gbps to 14Gbps firewall throughput, 14 to 18 ports, single or dual removable hard-drives, and dual hot-swappable power supply. Optional services include SmartDefense to protect against emerging threats and U(TM) capabilities.

The company said the products can be used on sub-$500 home-office devices to 40Gbps performance models using a single management console on hardware from a variety of vendors including Check Point, Nokia, Crossbeam, IBM, and Sun.

Power-1 is available at a starting price of $36,500.
