Japanese electronics manufacturing company Casio Computer has selected a combination of Red Hat virtualisation software and IBM systems optimise the global IT infrastructure within its business development department and create business models to gain competitive advantage.

Casio said it will deploy Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and Red Hat Enterprise Linux on IBM BladeCenter.

Casio Production & Purchasing Division deputy senior general manager Atsushi Yazawa said Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization is suited for Casio because it provides a key foundation for cloud deployments.

"With Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization on IBM hardware, we have been able to reduce costs significantly while also speeding up procurement, which has helped the company successfully handle business management challenges," Yazawa said.

IBM and Red Hat are working together to offer customers open virtualisation applications to save money, improve time-to-market, adopt dual-source virtualisation strategies and build clouds.

The electronics manufacturing company also plans to transit to a cloud environment. The company currently uses its own privately built consolidated infrastructure platform, but is also considering using a public cloud environment in the future.
