Spanish bank Caja de Extremadura has implemented Digipass 810 card reader from Vasco Data Security International to secure its online banking system Servicash.

According to Vasco, as the internet is an important component of the bank’s multi channel strategy and in order to give their customers a secure e-banking experience, the bank has deployed its Digipass 810 card readers.

Vasco has said that Digipass 810 is also used by Caja de Extremadura’s employees to log on to the company’s corporate VPN; allowing them to access the bank’s network anywhere at any given time without needing to install additional hard or software on end-users’ computers.

Virgilio Daza, Head of Organization at Caja de Extremadura, said: By choosing VASCO’s DIGIPASS 810 card readers, we’ve added an extra layer of security in accessing our e-banking services and corporate network. Users not only need to have both the reader and their card, they also need to insert a PIN. Furthermore, as every financial transaction needs to be signed by the customer using strong dynamic passwords, we’ve built in another security check; reducing the risk that our customers fall prey to internet fraudsters.”

Jan Valcke, president and COO of Vasco, said: Digipass is a very versatile solution as one authentication solution can be implemented into different applications. Caja de Extremadura demonstrated this by using Digipass to secure access to its corporate VPN, an example of Vasco’s full option, all-terrain strategy.
