BroadSoft, a provider of IP-based communications services to the telecommunications industry, has launched BroadCloud, a cloud-based, hosted infrastructure to serve as the foundation for the company’s Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) communications capabilities.

The new offering features an array of unified communications (UC) services that enable carriers to offer enterprise customers an UC offering, and a new online marketplace distribution options.

The company said that the new offering enables fixed-line, mobile and cable service providers to extend their communications services to include UC services.

In addition, the new BroadCloud will include the BroadSoft’s current SaaS products, PacketSmart and new unified communications services including instant messaging and presence; video; Web collaboration; PacketSmart; and Casabi.

BroadSoft CEO Michael Tessler said rather than following the market and attempting to dictate which services should comprise a UC offering, the company has focused its product development efforts on what services enterprises say they want.

"With the addition of our BroadCloud hosted platform, we are offering a service delivery model that we believe accelerates time-to-market for our service provider customers, enables them to brand and customise an UC offering and allows them to quickly capitalise on the growing demand of these communications services," Tessler said.
