Borders UK and Ireland, the book and magazine retailer, has selected the Emboss payment processing service from Yespay to rollout across 500 tills at 41 stores.
The deal will mean Borders is fully compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The system works with all major credit and debit cards and can be scaled to support contactless platforms should Borders require it.
The Emboss platform logs all transactions centrally in real-time during online authorisation, the company said.
The company was under pressure to implement a new payment platform as part of its contractually scheduled separation from its former parent company, Borders Group Inc.
Simon Thomas, CIO at Borders, said: “Given our strict timescales for delivery the Yespay option enabled rapid implementation while providing a straightforward solution to our PCI DSS accreditation requirements.”
Borders in the process of implementing The Retail Suite, a Software as a Service (SaaS) retail management platform. Developed by Itim, it provides finance, supplier and customer management, planning, merchandising, mobile, sales audit and store functionality.
Thomas said: “Throughout the implementation we were able to avoid disruption to the business. We’ve also kept costs to a minimum by subscribing to the solution. The Yespay technology is very easy to use and was already integrated with The Retail Suite – Store, so limited staff training and set up effort was required.”
