Awareness Technologies, the developer of SaaS-based unified insider threat protection platform InterGuard, has acquired LegiTime, a mobile technology company that extends Awareness clients’ ability to monitor and block transmission of confidential data to smartphones.

Brad Miller, CEO and Chairman of Awareness, said that mobile devices are becoming a primary access point for business information and their clients depend on them to fully monitor and control their sensitive data.

Mr Miller said: "We’ve reviewed a number of technologies that would let us extend our platform to mobile devices and LegiTime’s was a perfect foundation."

The company said that Interguard, its endpoint architecture and SaaS platform are suited for mobile devices, which can now be controlled and reports accessed through the same user interface.

Ron Penna, chief strategy officer and co-founder of Awareness Technologies, said: "DLP on the desktop alone is no longer sufficient and this is a perfect complement to our existing solution. Smartphones are rapidly becoming the primary communication device in the workplace."
