AVG Technologies has launched its new Android security offering for Android tablet devices.

The security company said that built on the success of AVG Mobile Solutions popular Smartphone application, ANTIVIRUSFree for Android is designed for the needs and possibilities of the new wave of tablet devices.

With ANTIVIRUSFree for Android tablets (AVG Mobilation for Android), Android tablet users can now protect their data by using cloud-based security technology. The company said the technology is simple to use, always up-to-date, and light on the device and battery life.

AVG Mobilation for Android tablet can scan apps, settings, data and media files in real time for viruses and other malware. In case of theft, the device can also be remotely traced and wiped to protect privacy by using the technology, said the company.

The backup feature protects contacts, call logs, bookmarks, messages and installed applications to an SD card. The antivirus protection also offers an "app locker" feature that can password protect apps to prevent children using certain applications or data.
