AuthenTec, a provider of smart fingerprint sensors and software, has revealed that it is going to release its new TrueSuite PC application software, targeted for consumer PCs and netbooks. The company said the new offering is its first commercially released application software and has been designed to provide a simple interface for consumers to access the multiple features of AuthenTec fingerprint sensors.

The company claims that the new offering is developed to make fingerprint-enabled PCs simple and easier to use with increased user convenience and personalisation. Reportedly, TrueSuite supports a variety of operating systems, but has been optimised for the forthcoming Windows 7 operating system (OS) with support for the new Windows Biometric Framework (WBF) integrated within the OS.

The company said TrueSuite will soon be shipping to a PC manufacturer for inclusion in their new consumer laptop models.

Reportedly, the features of the new offering include: a simple client interface, one-touch access to consumers’ online social networks and digital identity, improved security of the PC and its stored files and programs, streamlined secure Windows and website log on, personalised the user interface with themes and color choices, allowing export and import of passwords and security settings.

The company claims that the new offering simplifies the fingerprint enrollment process, allows PC users to lock and unlock screensavers, files and folders. The company added that the embedded video and user help screens offer guidance to improve the user experience.

TrueSuite will also be compatible with the new Windows 7 OS and is an important piece of a complete consumer PC offering from AuthenTec, which includes software and new ‘smart sensor’ hardware that we will be rolling out in the coming months.”

TrueSuite is reportedly compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP (SP2 and SP3) operating systems and Internet Explorer (IE) Version 6, IE7, IE8, and Firefox browsers.
