Online e-commerce site eBay has rejected to list for auction a Mercedes Benz 540K Cabriolet B, once owned by Nazi chief Hermann Goering, referring to a policy barring the sale of offensive articles.

Custom built by Daimler-Benz for Adolf Hitler’s close confidant, the 1941 model is currently being revamped at an automobile shop, with $750,000 being spent to make it operational again.

The e-commerce site has asked the owners to take down the auction upon discovering it would go live in early July 2014.

eBay said in a statement to Reuters: "eBay has policies in place that prohibit the sale of offensive materials and content, which includes listings that promote or glorify hatred, violence or racial, sexual or religious intolerance."

High Velocity Classics and European Cars of Boca, which is currently revamping the vehicle, considered the Goering car as a piece of history and that eBay’s denial amounts to a kind of rejection of its significance.

High Velocity Classics co-owner David Rathbun said: "eBay is all over the world, it has hundreds of millions of users, and it was the biggest venue anyone could find."
