Attivio has released version 1.5 of its unified information access platform, the Active Intelligence Engine (AIE). The new version 1.5 of AIE comes with modules for classification, sentiment and optical character recognition (OCR), as well as new features including ingestion and querying, indexing, and security.

Attivio said that the AIE v1.5’s enhanced security model eliminates the requirement for an enterprise search engine plus a relational database to manage document-level permissioning by storing content, groups and users as separate tables in its Universal Index.

The company claims that the new modules in AIE v1.5 changes the way information is indexed and distributed within the enterprise, equating to more relevant results being available to the authorised users.

According to Attivio, the new module capabilities include: classification module which provides solution for classifying documents to a set of categories; sentiment module which extracts and measures the sentiment or ‘attitude’ of documents as well as the entities within documents; and OCR module which ingests text from scanned documents and images, including hand-written.

Other enhancements to AIE v1.5 include: certified multi-node configurations; pluggable relevancy logic; index backup and restore service; and Microsoft Exchange connector update.

Attivio said that the new AIE SQL module will allow customers to write and execute SQL queries against AIE directly or from existing enterprise BI tools and applications. The module will also include AIE query extensions that serve a range of enterprise information, from ad-hoc search queries to structured reports.
