AT&T has teamed up with Juniper Networks to deliver a new mobile device security platform that will allow or both businesses and consumers to better protect their devices against security threats.
Though the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, AT&T intends to provide a comprehensive security product that will integrate wireline and wireless security policies for consumer, enterprise and government customers.
The first phase of the platform, the AT&T Mobile Security application, is expected to be available later this year and is based on the Juniper’s Junos Pulse product.
The deal forms part of AT&T’s mobile security strategy to manage and protect smartphones and customer information from the increasing number of cyber attacks.
The AT&T Mobile Security application will help businesses and organisations maintain compliance with government regulations, enforce security policies, manage personal or enterprise-owned devices, enable anti-virus, anti-malware, and application monitoring and control.
The new mobile security platform will help businesses control what type of data can be downloaded to a smartphone or tablet, one of the biggest enterprise security risks.
AT&T noted that enterprises can use the new offering to remotely remove or encrypt data on mobile devices and can have this function centrally administered.
