Asus to launch Intel powered seven-inch FonePad

The device will be powered by the Intel Atom Z2420 processor.

Asus is expected to launch a seven-inch tablet at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC)that will be held between February 25-28 2013 at Barcelona in Spain.

The new ‘Fone pad’ tablet is expected to be powered by the Intel Atom Z2420 processor with a clock speed of 1.2GHz and will run on Android 4.1-Jelly Bean OS, according to the Digitimes.

FonePad features a touch screen with a resolution of 1280X800IPS. The tablet has an aluminium body and 4,270mAh battery, according to the reports.

Other features include 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 3MP rear camera and support for 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Digitimes also claims that the tablet is expected to be priced around $271-$305 and will be available from the second quarter of 2013.

The company currently manufactures the Google Nexus 7 tablet powered by the Nvidia Tegra 3 processor.
