Argos has launched its own-brand budget Android tablet.

The 7in mobile device, called MyTablet, will retail for £100 and use Google Android’s Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system.

The release comes after Tesco produced its own tablet, the Hudl, a more powerful device retailing at £120.

Argos’s device, available in pink, silver or aluminium, is aimed at eight to 13-year-olds and has parental controls already enabled.

The MyTablet features 8GB memory, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a 1.6GHz dual core processor with a 1024×600 resolution LCD display.

Argos expects the device to sell well over Christmas.
