Apple has won a patent lawsuit against Samsung after a South Korean court ruled the iPhone maker had not violated three of Samsung’s mobile patents.
According to Reuters, the Seoul court ruled that products like the iPhone 4S and 5 and the iPad 2 were not infringing on Sammy patents that cover message display methods and grouping features.
The judge also rejected Samsung’s plea to ban sales of older iPhones and iPads in South Korea.
Apple Korea spokesman Steve Park said in a statement: "We are glad the Korean court joined others around the world in standing up for real innovation and rejecting Samsung’s ridiculous claims."
The lawsuit is part of both the smartphone makers’ global legal war in 2011, when Apple initially filed a lawsuit against Samsung for infringing the look and feel of its iPhone and iPad devices.
Samsung said in a statement that it was disappointed by the court decision.
"As Apple has continued to infringe our patented mobile technologies, we will continue to take the measures necessary to protect our intellectual property rights," the South Korean firm added.
