The new operating system features iCloud integration that keeps user content up to date across all the user devices

By CBR Staff Writer

Apple is set to release its advanced desktop operating system, OS X Mountain Lion in July as a download from the Mac App Store.

Mountain Lion introduces more than 200 new features features including the new Messages app, Notification Center, system-wide Sharing, Facebook integration, Dictation, Power Nap, AirPlay Mirroring, Game Center and Gatekeeper to provide enhanced security.

The new operating system features iCloud integration that keeps user content up to date across all the user devices while the user iCloud account helps users to set up Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Messages, Reminders and Notes.

Documents in the Cloud works with iCloud-enabled apps including Apple’s iWork suite so user can always access and edit documents on any device.

The new Messages app brings iMessage to the Mac, allowing users to send messages to anyone with an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or another Mac system.

The Messages app supports traditional instant messaging services and also includes group messaging, delivery and read receipts, typing indicators and secure end-to-end encryption.

Notification Center will enable user to view all his notifications from OS X and third party apps in one convenient place. It also comes integrated with Facebook and Twitter, so user can receive notifications when someone sends a message or mentions user in a post or tweet.

New system-wide Sharing will enable user to share links, photos, videos and other files. Clicking the Share button allows user to share without having to switch to another app and user just need to sign in once to use third-party services like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Vimeo.

Mountain Lion comes with built-in support for Facebook, allowing user to post photos, links and comments with locations right from your apps. Dictation allows user to dictate text anywhere the user can type, whether he is using an app from Apple or a third party developer.

Power Nap keeps user MacBook Pro with Retina display and MacBook Air (second and third generation) up to date while it sleeps. It automatically refreshes Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Photo Stream, Find My Mac and Documents in the Cloud, and when plugged in, downloads software updates and backs up your Mac using Time Machine.

AirPlay Mirroring wirelessly sends up-to-1080p secure stream of user Mac onto any AirPlay-video enabled device. Game Center brings the social gaming network from iOS to the Mac so user can enjoy live, multiplayer games with friends whether they’re on a Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

The new Gatekeeper feature makes downloading software from the Internet safer by giving user the control over which apps can be installed on Mac.

User can now choose to install apps from anywhere or for maximum security user can set Gatekeeper to allow downloading of apps only from the Mac App Store.
