Apple and Samsung are for once not suing each other – instead, another company is suing them both.

ZiiLabs, formerly 3DLabs, said it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit claiming the iPhone, iMac and MacBook Pro as well as Galaxy tablets and smartphones ripped off its own technologies.

The Texas lawsuit relates to 10 patents covering areas including video stream data mixing for 3D graphic systems and enhancement of complex chips.

ZiiLabs, a subsidiary of Singapore’s Creative Technology Ltd, is claiming past and future damages for its patented technologies, and is seeking injunctions against Samsung and Apple, though there is no details on what kind of bans these would be.

Earlier, Apple settled a lawsuit with Creative, paying $100m to authorise the use of a hierarchical user interface deployed in the Singapore firm’s Zen music players.
