Apple has released a new version of Mac OS X Lion, v10.7.4, along with security updates to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

The OS X Lion v10.7.4 Update includes the new Safari 5.1.6, which contains stability improvements and general operating system fixes including a fix for FileVault bug discovered recently.

It has claimed to have patched 36 vulnerabilities in its operating systems which revealed passwords used to encrypt folders with an older version of FileVault.

The update fixes issues which caused "reopen windows when logging back in", that was struck on "always enabled" and has compatibility with certain UK third-party USB keyboards.

Apple said the update can addresses permission issues when the Get Info inspector function is activated and address an issue that may prevent files from being saved to an SMB server.

The version allows internet sharing of PPPoE connections, proxy auto-configuration (PAC) files, enables automatic login for NIS accounts, printing to an SMB print queue, and better performance when connecting to a WebDAV server, the company said.

The update also includes RAW image compatibility for additional digital cameras and the reliability of binding and logging into Active Directory accounts.

Users can find the update under the Software Update tab in their Apple menu.
