Apple has released the Golden Master version of its new operating system OS X Maverick to developers.

The new release means Apple has broken the tradition of naming the earlier releases on feline creatures such as Snow Leopard, Mountain Lion.

First announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2013 (WWDC) event held in June 2013, the OS X Mavericks is in beta stage currently available to developers.

This version of the OS is said to focus on increasing the device’s battery as well as iCloud integration.

Other features include support for the iBook, new Finder Tabs, integrated Apple Maps, the power-saving App Nap function as well as compressed memory option.

The new version of the OS is also expected to feature multiple display support, finder enhancements, tabs, full screen tags and document tags.

Additionally, the app will include improvements to the calendar, Safari browser, iCloud Keychain syncing and notification centre.
