Apple continues to draw app developers’ attention: study

While Android maintains its share, BlackBerry is struggling

By CBR Staff Writer

Strategy Analytics in its report, entitled ‘App Developer Attitudes and Behaviors’, said that app developers are most drawn to Apple, followed by Windows Phone.

While Android maintains its share, BlackBerry is struggling.

The report states that iPad, Android, and Windows Phone are gaining in popularity at the expense of iPhone, BlackBerry, Java and other platforms.

Strategy Analytics director of apps research Josh Martin said the app market was already maturing.

"The platform that best delivers revenue from multiple streams stands the best chance of success in the next eighteen months. For this reason, Strategy Analytics predicts that Apple will introduce carrier billing in emerging markets next year, which will extend the lead it has built in mature regions," Martin said.
