A US appeals court has cleared Apple of infringing a patent owned by Google’s Motorola Mobility.

The court upheld a verdict by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) in April 2013, in a case that saw Mtoorola seeking to block shipments of Apple’s iPhone to the US .

Federal Judge Jimmie Reyna said:"Because these conclusions of the Commission were supported by substantial evidence, we affirm.

"The Commission also found that Motorola failed to satisfy its burden for establishing the technical prong of the domestic industry requirement."

Motorola, which had accused Apple of infringing six of its patents in 2010, said in a statement: "We’re disappointed in this decision and are evaluating our options."
