AppDynamics, a provider of cloud-based application performance management (APM), has delivered a disruptive new .NET monitoring and management offering designed to remake the face of APM for IT professionals who support critical .NET environments.

The new tool is offered as cloud ready, SaaS edition for .NET and Java users, and supports modern .NET architectures and hybrid .NET/Java environments.

AppDynamics’ tool is capable of performing in the volatile environment of the cloud, making it a perfect fit for application owners who are migrating applications to Microsoft Azure, the company claimed.

Designed from the ground up for the cloud as well as complex, distributed environments, AppDynamics self-learns the performance baseline of an application — enabling the solution to keep up with cloud-based applications.

The company delivers the new offering via a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model under a freemium option, where users can "try before they buy" via a free download.

Pearson eCollege Systems Architect Jim Wyatt said with AppDynamics’ support for .NET, they can now trace transactions that span our Java and .NET application tiers.

AppDynamics founder and CEO Jyoti Bansal said typically, they’ve seen .NET monitoring tools conform to the stodgy rules of enterprise software: difficult to deploy, expensive, requiring tons of configuration, and never offering anything for free in advance of a purchase.

"AppDynamics intends to rewrite all of these rules, and our happy .NET customers to date are evidence of the high market demand for our unique approach," Bansal said.
