Aonix, a provider of the PERC product line for embedded and real-time Java developers, has partnered with PrismTech, a provider of software integration and infrastructure services. Under the agreement, PrismTech’s OpenFusion RTOrb Java Edition, the real-time CORBA middleware for the Java platform, will be ported to Aonix’s PERC Ultra Real-time Virtual Machine (VM).
The partnering agreement will also allow both companies to jointly market their advanced technologies to their mutual customer base.
Gary Cato, director of marketing at Aonix, said: “As Java continues to grow in popularity for use in embedded and real-time systems. The Aonix/PrismTech relationship will enable both companies to effectively address the demand we’re seeing from our joint customers. Availability of OpenFusion CORBA together with PERC Ultra and demand for efficient Java-oriented solutions like this one will nicely address their requirements.”
The companies noted that OpenFusion RTOrb Java Edition is an ORB that supports the Real-Time Specification for Java (RTSJ). OpenFusion RTOrb Java Edition includes enterprise level functionality and provides a single unified product for different needs and uses, supporting both real-time systems and enterprise level business applications with a single ORB.
The companies claimed that PERC Ultra is a virtual machine and toolset created for embedded and real-time systems requiring J2SE support. PERC Ultra delivers Java Standard Edition support, and the currently available version, PERC Ultra 5.3 offers Ahead-of-Time (AOT) and Just-in-Time (JIT) compilation, remote debug support, deterministic garbage collection, standard graphics and extended commercial RTOS support.
Andrew Foster, product marketing manager of PrismTech, said: “We are really pleased to be working closely with Aonix and expect to leverage real advantages from the PERC JVM technology. We are already seeing increased interest for our OpenFusion CORBA middleware since we started this work and we believe that our partnership will help deliver many technical and commercial benefits to the Real-time and Embedded Java development community.”
