Online hacktivist group Anonymous has warned Fox News that it will shut down the Fox News website on 5 November, "Guy Fawkes" day, as a protest against what it sees as the channel’s "propaganda" against the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Anonymous is infamous for its previous hack attacks on credit card companies, Sony and BART. The hacker group has supported the Occupy Wall Street movement, asking people to join protests in several countries across the world.

It is believed Anonymous hacked the Fox News’ Twitter account recently and posted false news about President Obama.

According to Reuters, Anonymous said in a video on YouTube, "Anonymous introduces Occupation Fox Hunt."

"It intends on destroying the Fox News website because their continued right-wing conservative propaganda can no longer be tolerated."

In the video, Anonymous targeted host Sean Hannity for attacking the "character and credentials" of the occupiers.
