Google’s Android operating system (OS) has been activated by some 900 million smartphones and tablets, since its introduction in 2010.
The company also said that the revenue from Android OS that rival Apple, is also gaining momentum.
The revenue per user for Android applications developers has now doubled compared to the previous year levels.
Speaking at the company’s ongoing I/O conference in San Francisco, Google Android, Chrome and Google Apps senior vice president Sundar Pichai said it’s an extraordinary achievement.
"But it is an incredible ecosystem achievement," Pichai said.
Additionally, installations apps through Google Play have reached 48 billion thus far, which is nearby the 50 billion Apple’s iOS platform is about to reach.
About 2.5 billion apps were installed in April alone.
In April 2013, Google has updated its Google Play App for tablets and smartphones, powered by its Android operating system, in a bid to simplify the music, movie and app-purchasing process, with bigger images and a cleaner interface.
