E-commerce firm Amazon has launched Kindle Worlds, which will allow users to publish fan fiction inspired by popular books, shows, movies, comics, music, and games.

The company said with Kindle Worlds, users can write new stories based on featured Worlds, engage an audience of readers, and earn royalties.

Amazon Publishing has secured licenses from Warner Bros. Television’s Alloy Entertainment for three TV series, Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and The Vampire Diaries.

The company said more content agreements will be signed in the coming weeks.

Amazon Publishing will pay 35% of the overall price of the authors work in royalty payments if they have written about 10,000 words.

For the short stories, Amazon will pay authors a digital royalty of 20% of net revenue.

Amazon Publishing will own all rights to the authors new stories, including global publication rights, for the term of copyright.

Earlier this month, Amazon launched its own currency called Amazon Coins for Kindle Fire customers in the US.
