Adobe enhances Acrobat.com with new collaboration capabilities

Adds web image integration and smartphone access

By CBR Staff Writer

Adobe Systems has updated its Acrobat.com, which incorporates over 35 features including access to smartphone, enabling people to work from anywhere.

Built on the Adobe Flash platform, Acrobat.com has an online file organiser that allows users to store, share and organise files, create PDF files, launch online office applications, and initiate web meetings, the company said.

According to Adobe, the new Acrobat.com mobile application allows users to upload document images from a supported mobile phone and have them automatically stored as searchable PDF files in Acrobat.com. It allows users to read their files stored in Acrobat.com, share files with others and fax documents from their Acrobat.com organiser or directly from their smartphone.

Other features in this release include, enhancements to buzzword, as well as presentations and tables. It includes import and export/publishing options, with support for importing PPT/PPTX files in presentations, which enables users to export their tables to PDF, XLS or CSV for sharing data. Buzzword enables export to EPUB, the electronic book publishing format for eBook readers.

In addition, the new updates to Acrobat.com include web image integration that allows users to browse Flickr and Google images, preview pictures and import them into presentations; and Adobe Kuler integration that allows users to browse colour sets in Kuler and apply them to presentations to create a new look.

Rick Treitman, director of product management for Acrobat.com at Adobe, said: “Adobe’s online tools give people the advantage of working together from anywhere, and from virtually any device. This release of Acrobat.com is another step in helping people collaborate and communicate with ease and flexibility.”
