Actuate, a provider of BIRT products and services, has extended a strategic alliance including collaboration of open source applications with Red Hat’s middleware portfolio, JBoss Enterprise Middleware. Under the new agreement, Red Hat has become part of Actuate’s BIRT Global Partner Connection and Actuate has become a next level member of the JBoss Certified ISV Partner Program.

Actuate said that its BIRT Global Partner Connection provides JBoss Enterprise Middleware customers access to a network of collaborating businesses and a developer community with BIRT knowledge. This alliance gives Red Hat access to BIRT expertise and the value-add BIRT products and services from Actuate.

According to Actuate, the alliance will assist users of the JBoss Enterprise Application Platform. The integration enables developers to deploy BIRT reports within various applications and provides for data source access. The partnership builds on community-level contributions made by BIRT developers to the JBoss Tools 3.0 project.

The company said that by joining the JBoss ISV Partner Program, it will receive software, development, marketing, and co-selling benefits that enable the company to support all Red Hat platforms – including the Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform, the JBoss Enterprise Middleware application portfolio, and Red Hat’s management platforms.

Nobby Akiha, SVP of marketing at Actuate, said: “By becoming a member of the JBoss Certified ISV Partner Program, we have made it simple for our customers to leverage Red Hat’s portfolio to support their efforts to certify that their applications work with JBoss Enterprise Platforms and Frameworks.”
