Actuate launches Service Pack 1

Brings in improvements to e.Spreadsheet and e.Reports in their support for PDF output

By CBR Staff Writer

Actuate has announced the general availability of Actuate 10 Service Pack 1.

According to the company, Service Pack 1 expands Actuate 10 with support for the latest Eclipse BIRT 2.3.2 release, includes Actuate Mobile and further solidifies the Actuate platform by introducing PDF output enhancements as well as usability, performance and Microsoft Excel compatibility enhancements. With these enhancements, Actuate customers are able to extend and adapt their user environment to meet the changing business needs of both ‘in office’ and ‘out of office’ users.

Actuate said that Service Pack 1 provides full commercial support for the latest Eclipse BIRT 2.3.2 release and expands the capabilities of Eclipse BIRT with support for dynamic, Adobe Flash-based content, rich user interactivity, deployment and scalability for the latest open source Eclipse BIRT release.

In addition, Service Pack 1 brings improvements to e.Spreadsheet and e.Reports in their support for PDF output. e.Spreadsheet offers on-demand PDF and Microsoft Excel 2007 output, while e.Reports speeds up PDF generation times with enhancements in handling embedded graphics and international fonts, added Actuate.

Further, e.Spreadsheet output can include Microsoft Excel form controls such as buttons and lists and can maintain custom pivot table formatting. e.Spreadsheet developers can now also control the order of query execution in the design and can cancel the execution of time-consuming spreadsheet preview operations. These enhancements allow Actuate customers to efficiently address an even broader set of requirements, the company noted.
