ActivIdentity, a provider of authentication and credential management products, has enhanced its ActivID Card Management System by adding automatic certificate renewal and smart card update capabilities including support for public key cryptography standards (PKCS) #11-compliant middleware.

In conjunction with ActivClient security software, the Card Management System issues and manages smart cards and smart USB tokens that are being used for a variety of desktop, network security, and productivity applications, the company said.

According to ActivIdentity, the new enhancements include, improved device administration through automatic certificate renewal and automatic smart card updates; support for (Personal Identity Verification) PIV-Interoperability for non-federal organisations; and updated environmental support such as Microsoft Windows Server 2008.

Grant Evans, chairman and CEO at ActivIdentity, said: The enhancements to our ActivID Card Management System bolster ActivIdentity’s leadership position in the corporate identity and credential management space. At the same time, these advancements represent the first step in the evolution of our product to address the needs of credential issuance and life cycle management in other key market segments such as payments, transportation and mobile technologies.
