ACS partners with VMware to offer desktop managed services

Uses VMware View to simplify and automate its desktop and application management

By CBR Staff Writer

Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) has partnered with VMware to provide a cost-effective way to deliver desktop managed services for its clients.

As part of the agreement, ACS will standardise the deployment of VMware View, an enterprise desktop virtualisation offering, at all of its customer datacentres to help customers avoid the capital costs, time and IT resources required to build a virtual desktop offering from scratch.

ACS said, utilising VMware View to simplify and automate its desktop and application management, it will be able to reduce desktop total cost of ownership (TCO) for its customers, improve data security, and enhance flexibility and productivity across multiple end-user platforms and devices.

ACS said that its desktop management service focuses on preventive maintenance to provide workers with fast, reliable and robust desktops. This offering includes leveraging VMware View to help ensure application version control, administer OS patches and updates, and comply with software-licensing agreements.
