Accuvant, a provider of information security, has acquired cyber security offerings firm Ciphent. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The company said that this acquisition will provide strategic, complementary service offerings that will enhance its ability to meet the information security needs of its enterprise customers while increasing exposure to federal clients and mid-market accounts.

In addition, Ciphent expands Accuvant’s presence to the mid-Atlantic US, along with Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

Accuvant co-founder and vice president of strategic planning Scott Walker said that the company is delighted about this acquisition because of the wide range of innovative offerings Ciphent brings to the table.

"Our clients and partners will benefit from the combined Accuvant and Ciphent teams’ expanded offerings and steadfast focus on information security," Walker said.

The company said that Ciphent will operate as its wholly owned subsidiary, and the combined will employ more than 300 personnel worldwide.
