When I was a lad, I remember being delighted when I ripped the wrapping paper off my brand new Sega Master System one Christmas. Those were the days.
I was also lucky enough to receive a Game Boy, SNES and PS2 over the years. Of course, games consoles began to lose their appeal as I grew older. Not because I grew out of them – but because I had to start paying for them!
As my dad will tell you, having children can be a pricey affair.
The initial outlay for a console is steep enough, but it always seems to be the cost of the games that really hits you in the pocket. Disney has now released details of its new collectable, interactive video game ahead of its launch next month. Disney Infinity will offer additional figures and add-ons inspired by the company’s films.
The starter pack, with three figures, is priced at about £60, with an optional 17 extra figures to collect, at a cost of about £12 each. At these kind of prices, I can only hope that I never have children. I think I better speak to my doctor about getting the snip!
So how much is too much when it comes to buying consoles and games? What’s wrong with hop scotch and a hula hoop?
