CBR rounds up 5 apps for the modern, mobile HR professional.
1. Concur
Proving that the most successful apps are those that fully utilise the functionality of the mobile device, Concur removes the need for the tedious collection of receipts and drawn out submittal processes.
Employees can simply take a photo of the receipts as they go along using their mobile device, submitting and then tracking the progress of their reports. The mobile device also allows managers to speed up their end of the process, by instantly reviewing and approving them remotely through the app.
The app starts at $8 per month per employee.
2. Herd Wisdom
Herd Wisdom is an app aimed at monitoring and improving employee "engagement", a broadly defined term including morale and participation in company activities. It costs $3 per employee per month.
On the employee side, there are incentives to report thoughts and answer surveys about the company, as well as use the app to collaborate with co-workers.
The HR professional can use the app to monitor these metrics in order to work out how well the "engagement" efforts are progressing, using real-time data served up through the app.
3. Spark Hire
Despite one reviewer on the Google Play page grumbling that they lost a job after using the app, this video resume and video interviewing app will prove useful as the use of video becomes more widespread in the recruitment arena.
After the applicant has recorded the video using a smartphone or tablet, the HR professional can view them on their own device. The applicants are helpfully grouped onto a single page for the hirer’s perusal.
Interviews can also be conducted live through the app, at both parties’ convenience. The mobile app comes as part of the broader software suite starting at $49 per month.
4. SAP Manager Insight
Powered by SAP Mobile Platform, this employee profile app allows HR professionals and managers to access information about employees remotely, includes KPI reports and other employee details.
The user can drill down into different levels of the organisation, as well as use the interface to search for employees.
Unlike the other apps on the list, this demands a simple one-off payment of $450 per user. However, there is a trail version that can be accessed from SAP’s website.
5. LinkedIn Recruiter
This app allows you to bring the best elements of the LinkedIn network to your device in your search for staff. Available on Android and iOS, it comes free with a LinkedIn Recruiter account.
The full recruitment arsenal is at your fingerprints, with the ability to search for and contact staff directly through the app.
In addition, you can receive real-time updates on job applicants, hiring manager reviews and profile changes for candidates you follow.
