Microsoft Corp’s Softimage Inc multimedia software acquisition in Montreal, Quebec says its multi-threaded Digital Studio application is scheduled for release at the end of 1996 under Windows NT version 4.0. The Canadian’s Digital Studio is designed to handle all kinds of digital media from compressed video streams to full-resolution film images, and to provide a single consistent application for professional non-linear video editing and compositing, two- and three-dimensional painting, audio editing, titling, special effects and project management, with the promise that it will streamline and speed the process of creating videos, films and interactive games. No price was given for it.
