Softbank Corp and Healtheon/WebMD Inc are joining forces to establish WebMD Japan KK, the two companies said Wednesday. The proposed joint venture, which will be established through the Softbank Publishing Inc subsidiary, will distribute medical information to physicians and consumers on the internet.

The new company is slated to be established by the end of this year, with the start of operations targeted for summer 2000. WebMD Japan will provide Healtheon/WebMD’s proprietary information for physicians and consumers, supplemented with Japanese medical information and news. The site will adapt WebMD’s US medical content to the Japanese market and provide it to consumers or, on a fee basis, to member physicians. รก
