Wayne, Pennsylvania-based Soft-Switch Inc has added a translation facility to its Enterprise Mail Exchange, EMX. With the Open Object Translation Interface and compliant translation software, Enterprise Mail Exchange can bi-directionally translate objects such as word processed documents, spreadsheets, graphics, and Electronic Data Interchange. The Open Object Translation Interface is a published specification that, says the company, enables any translation software package to be used with Enterprise Mail Exchange, so that managers of EMX backbone messaging networks can choose the translation software that best fits their requirements. Translation services are now available to all connected users, as well as applications using the messaging infrastructure. Soft-Switch has won the support of vendors including Aladdin Software Inc, Keyword Office Technologies Inc, and Mastersoft Inc. Meanwhile, Isocor Inc has become the latest electronic mail supplier to support Soft-Switch’s open Directory Synchronisation protocol for integrating disparate electronic mail directories.
