Société Générale, a France-based finacial services group, has adotped shared services platform for its IT infrastructures, in order to improve operational efficiency, industrialise processes and to optimise group resources.

Reportedly, the new entity ‘Global Technologies and Services’ (GTS) will serve all banking functions, from retail banking & financial services, to global investment management & services and to corporate & investment banking. This amounts to more than 160,000 workstations, 25,000 servers, 200,000 telephones and all the corresponding networks and services.

The bank has added that 1,000 employees have already joined this entity in France. Driven by the resources management, this project will eventually concern employees from 40 countries, who will work within the GTS teams, under the responsibility of Bertrand Lemarignier, director of the entity.

Françoise Mercadal-Delasalles, group resources director and member of the group executive committee, said: This unique services platform is emblematic of our group’s will to industrialise our operational model and to mutualise our resources in order to improve operational efficiency.”
