PTC PLM On Demand is a service sold by the PTC value added reseller community to offer Windchill, a program for product data management and collaborative project management to small and medium business (SMB) manufacturers.

According to PTC, the platform allows manufacturers to control product information, collaborate with partners, suppliers and customers on design activities, and manage the development process throughout the life of a product.

The product has been implemented at Phillips & Temro Industries, a full service provider in the automotive, heavy duty truck, industrial and agricultural industries, where it is used to provide change management capabilities and integrate with several CAD solutions.

In addition, PTC said, it has also been deployed at Phillips Plastics, a custom injection molder that provides integrated design through manufacturing services. Kelly Stichter, vice president for business development at the company, said: We chose the PTC PLM On Demand to improve the efficiency of our collaboration process which ultimately helps us deliver superior products on time and on budget.

Santa Cruz, a privately-held producer of full-suspension bicycles, hopes its utilization of the program will help improve management of deliverables and timelines as well as the overall lifecycle management of products.

PTC PLM On Demand includes direct integration with Pro/Engineer and optional direct integration with other major CAD packages.

Because the service has a low start-up cost, a setup measured in days, and advanced enterprise-level PLM capabilities, PTC PLM On Demand offers SMB customers all the benefits of PLM without the traditional hurdles, said Jay Muelhoefer, general manager, PLM On Demand Business, PTC.
