Gomez, who used to be eBay’s senior VP of corporate communications and government relations, would be charged with all of Skype’s North American strategy and business, including marketing, public relations, business development, product integration, and government relations.

He will report to Skype chief executive Niklas Zennstrom.

Gomez is the third senior eBay executive to take a leadership role at Skype. Alex Kazim, formerly senior VP of new ventures at eBay, is now part of Skype to take charge of several new business areas. And eBay CFO Rajiv Dutta will become president of Skype worldwide after his successor is named.
