Microsoft’s biggest acquisition and Internet telephone service provider Skype has mysteriously crashed in the UK and many other parts of the world.

Users across the world started complaining about the disruption of Skype’s services on various social media sites, including Twitter. Reasons for the crash is unknown.

Earliest reports of Skype’s outage started a few minutes after noon in the UK, when the service froze. It continues to do so, flashing an error message, as people try and log in to the service. Some have reported that making calls became difficult since the outage.

Microsoft acquired Skype for $8.5bn just two weeks ago. The deal is the biggest ever by Microsoft, which has traditionally preferred small purchases over big ones. In 2007, the company had paid $6bn to purchase online advertising company aQuantive.
