SIX JAPANESE BANKS TO LAUNCH A HOME BANKING SYSTEM

The six major Japanese city banks, Dai-Ichi Kangyo, Mitsui, Mitsubishi, Fuji, Sumitomo and Sanwa bank are following the success of the home share trading system using the Nintendo Co Famicon ultra-low-cost games machine by announcing that they will launch a home banking service designed around the Famicon for launch in the autumn of next year: account holders will be able to check their balance, pay bills, and transfer cash between different accounts, using the communications system developed by NTT Data Communications Services; Famicons on the Home Banking Services network will use the Automatic Answer Network System for Electrical Request value-added-network service operated by NTT Data; coming next – air and travel reservations.
