Sintrom Plc has acquired IPAC Systems Ltd for UKP450,000, adding a wide area network arm to its networking division. 42% of Reading-based Sintrom’s business is in networking, which is also the most profitable of its sectors. The rest of the company is made up mostly of distribution with some services. IPAC specialises in the design and installation of wide area data networks, an area not previously covered by Sintrom. For the year ending last July, the company made a UKP61,000 profit on turnover of UKP900,000. In May 1989, the company was bought out by the management from International City Holdings Plc (CI No 1,300); management will stay on at Swindon, Wiltshire-based IPAC. Sintrom has worked with the company before and says there will be no problems fitting the company in to its corporate structure. IPAC will join Sintrom Datanet, Online and Micro Technology, aquired in May and July of 1988 respectively. Both are local area network installers, Online for larger networks, Micro Technology for smaller ones. Sintrom Datanet designs and markets bridges and network analysers. Although Sintrom’s David Brocksom says the company is looking to grow all parts of the business – through acquisitions and organically – he did say that a lot of the thrust would be in networking.
