Singapore is determined to become a regional telecommunications hub, and SingNet Ltd, one of its three Internet access providers, is to give traveling customers access to the Internet in the US, Australia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Thailand. A free trial service from the US will be available for a month from on October 1. It said the roaming service was made possible through its participation in the Global Reach Internet Consortium with US-based Aimnet Inc and nine other Asia-Pacific service providers. Customers abroad simply dial into the local Internet service provider’s computer and log on using the usual SingNet account and password.
